Assistant Director – Project Management Office Contract

  • 12 month contract – May 2024 start
  • $800 – $950 per day (inc-Super)
  • Oversee project portfolios within a Technology Delivery office
  • Canberra, Sydney (Surry Hills), Brisbane, Richmond VIC or Midland WA

Our client, a Commonwealth Government organisation whose focus is to provide support to Australian’s living with disability, are Seeking the experience of an Assistant Director – Project Management Office (PMO) for a long 12 month contract based in ACT, NSW, QLD, VIC or WA.

Duties of the Assistant Director – Project Management Office

  • Assist the Director of the Technology Delivery Office in setting strategic direction and priorities for project management initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project managers and team members to ensure projects are executed effectively and efficiently.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the PMO.
  • Oversee the development and management of the project portfolios, including prioritization, resource allocation, and budget tracking.
  • Monitor project performance against established goals, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs), and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews to assess project status, risks, and dependencies, and communicate findings to senior leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement of project management processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among project teams, stakeholders, and cross-functional departments to ensure alignment and transparency.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Minimum 3 years experience in ICT project management or ICT Project Management Office roles.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and ability to deliver continual to the ICT Project Management process and associated delivery processes.
  • Proven ability to foster high performing teams through empowering and mentoring.
  • Experience working with government organisations and understanding of government processes and regulations (desired).
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing complex multi-stakeholder processes within a large enterprise organisation (desired).
