Our client, a large Federal Government Bureau based in Docklands, Melbourne are looking for an Infrastructure Solution Architect for a 5 + 12 month long contract.

The duties of the Infrastructure Solution Architect will include, but not be limited to:

• Lead in designing, specifying, selecting and developing information system solutions, considering functionality, data, security, integration, infrastructure and performance. Develop options with cost estimates; prepare business cases for IT solutions, considering infrastructure, licenses, development and support;
  
• Collaborate with project delivery teams in developing architectural and design artefacts. Ensure alignment with strategic technology plans and develop solutions that implement new technologies;
  
• Act as the primary point of contact for the customer on all matters relating to technical architecture for their allocated projects/programs. Participate and assist with business requirements gathering and analysis;
  
• Act as the subject matter expert for Microsoft domain technologies including Active Directory, Office 365, Exchange Online, etc.
  5. Knowledge of applicable federal government ICT regulations and controls, for example, as specified by the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD);
  
• Ability to investigate problems, research new technologies and demonstrate sound judgement in evaluating and recommending the acquisition of new or improved software and hardware; and
  
• In unusual cases, limited work in a controlled Data Centre environment may be required. This may include limited heavy lifting of equipment (in-line with WH&S policies and applied controls).

The Infrastructure Solution Architect will have familiarity or experience with ICT platform technologies, including:

• Microsoft technologies (such as Active Directory and ADFS, Exchange, DNS server, DHCP server, Group Policy, Server Message Block (SMB), SQL Server);
  
• Cloud (Iaas/Paas/Saas) technologies (such as Amazon Web Services, Azure, Operations Management Suite, Office 365, Exchange Online);
  
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL);
  
• Virtualisation technology (such as HyperV and VMware ESX); and
  
• Networking principles and technologies.
